We know it’s common for Professional Employer Organizations (firms that provide HR outsourcing services to small employers) to run payroll and file taxes using the PEO's EIN. BambooHR's payroll solution needs to use the EIN of each individual client. Do you run payroll and file taxes for your clients using the PEO's EIN, or the clients' EINs?*

BambooHR's payroll solution is currently designed to handle payroll and tax filing for the United States and Puerto Rico only. Some of our international clients use our payroll for their employees in the United States and Puerto Rico, and then use another payroll solution for their employees in other countries or U.S. Territories. BambooHR's payroll solution doesn’t currently provide a paycheck printing and mailing service. However, it offers direct deposit and gives clients three ways to print checks internally. Some clients even use third party companies for check printing and mailing. Are you open to these other options?*

BambooHR's payroll solution is not a workers’ compensation* vendor and does not process workers’ compensation payments. However, clients can manage workers’ compensation codes/rates in our system and access a basic report that provides an estimated premium that can be used to help with reporting needs. Are you open to that approach? *

*Workers’ compensation is a type of insurance that offers employees compensation for injuries or disabilities sustained as a result of their employment.

BambooHR's payroll solution allows clients to calculate total pay based on salary, hourly, overtime, or double time rates. If you have employees whose pay is directly tied with an item, piece, or deliverable they create, our payroll solution won’t be able to properly calculate payroll or reporting for these employees. Many of our clients do piece rate calculations outside of BambooHR, and then pay the employee a lump sum amount in our payroll solution. Are you open to this approach?*

BambooHR's payroll solution allows clients to use only one hourly rate per employee in a single pay period. Some organizations pay an employee multiple hourly rates in the same pay period depending on the shift or job being done (e.g. John Smith gets paid $10/hour for one shift and $12/hour for another shift). Many of our clients that need multiple rates use one hourly rate per employee in BambooHR, calculate pay for any additional rates outside of our system, and then add the additional rates as a lump sum for that employee in our payroll solution. Are you open to this approach?*

BambooHR's payroll solution's regularly-scheduled pay frequencies can be Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, or Monthly. However, clients can also run manual off-cycle payrolls in our system as often as needed for things like bonuses or one-time payments. Does this work for your needs?*

Most organizations will use either a fixed or variable allocation. Fixed allocation is when employees’ payroll costs are split into different grants/departments/projects by the same percentage every pay period. Variable allocation is when employees’ payroll costs are dependent on hours worked under each grant/department/project every pay period. Do you use fixed or variable allocation?*

BambooHR’s Time Tracking solution (add-on) enables clients to track billable/non-billable hours worked toward each grant/department/project with reporting that can be used to manually calculate job costing in a spreadsheet. Clients then enter that information into their accounting software. Are you open to this work around?*
